Wheeling Central inducted its second Hall of Fame class during a ceremony held Saturday morning at Wheeling Jesuit.

Doug Wojcik and several former U.S. Naval Academy alumni joined former teammate David Robinson as he received the 2017 Lone Sailor Award on Sept. 27, 2017.

The Wheeling Central Catholic High School Maroon Knights’ athletic greatness is being reinforced by its second class of hall of fame honorees, slated for induction Saturday, Oct. 21 in the Benedum Room on the campus of Wheeling Jesuit University. Wojcik will be one of 12 individuals and one team who will be honored.

The long-time college basketball coach has been away from the bench for the last three seasons. During that time, the Wheeling Central and Naval Academy graduate had ample time to spend time with his family and watch his two sons (Paxson and Denham) play. 

East Carolina has hired former College of Charleston coach Doug Wojcik as an assistant. Coach Jeff Lebo announced Wojcik’s hiring Friday, calling him “an exceptional, veteran basketball coach.” Wojcik has spent 25 years in coaching, including stints as the head coach at Tulsa and Charleston.
