PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Brown University men's basketball will add guard Paxson Wojcik, a junior transfer student-athlete from Loyola University Chicago, to its roster for the upcoming 2021-22 season, Brown head coach Mike Martin announced.

"We are very fortunate to be adding a player of Paxson's caliber to our program," said Martin. "He was someone we had recruited heavily out of high school and we've always thought so highly of him as a player and person. He possesses an outstanding work ethic, strong leadership skills, and fantastic basketball ability. He has great size on the perimeter and brings both offensive and defensively versatility. He also brings a great competitive spirit with him and has been a key piece to a Top-10 program at Loyola, where he played for one of the best coaches in college basketball, Porter Moser."

A 6-5 guard from Charleston, S.C., Wojcik spent the last two seasons at Loyola Chicago. In 2020-21, he saw action in 15 games for a Rambler team that advanced to the NCAA Sweet 16, while shooting 50-percent from the field and 40-percent from beyond the arc. He was also the recipient of the Missouri Valley Conference's Elite 17 Award for having the highest grade-point average of a student-athlete competing in the league tournament championship game. In 30 games played his freshman season (2019-20), Wojcik shot 52-percent from the floor and 42-percent from three-point territory.

Wojcik comes from a basketball family with his father, Doug, a recruiting coordinator for Michigan State's men's basketball program. Both his father and mother, Lael, played basketball at Navy while his brother, Denham, will be an incoming freshman for the Harvard men's basketball team.
